The Lowland Man
Some legends are born around a fire.
Others crawl out of the mud.
Deep in the flooded timber of Blackwater Parish, old hunters still speak of a figure that moves where no man should be able to walk. Tall, silent, and half hidden by fog, it appears along forgotten levees, abandoned logging roads, and stretches of swamp where the water never seems to reflect the sky.
They call it the Lowland Man.
No one agrees on what it is.
Some claim it is a deformed hermit driven into the wilderness decades ago. Others believe it is something older, a creature that learned to stand upright by watching men from the tree line. The Swamp Monkey Research Division has another theory entirely, though most of its records disappeared along with the people who wrote them.
When strange calls echo through the cypress, livestock vanish, and enormous tracks appear near the water, a forgotten legend begins moving again.
Those who see the Lowland Man rarely describe the same face.
They only agree on the eyes.
Watching.
